Acura Hits the Track with 2015 Acura TLX GT Race Car

This January, Acura made quite the impression at the North America International Auto Show. Alongside the 2015 Acura TLX prototype, the automaker showed off its upcoming track car, the 2015 Acura TLX GT Race Car. This new model will move Acura into the upper-most GT category in the Pirelli World Challenge Championship, and expectations are high.

“The 2015 Acura TLX is a true luxury sport sedan, so it is fitting that the car be raced against several of its natural luxury competitors in the Pirelli World Challenge,” said Art St. Cyr, President of Honda Performance Development and Vice President-Product Planning and Logistics, American Honda Motor Co., Inc.

Production duties for the new race car were handled by HPD, the racing branch of American Honda Motor Co., Inc.. Engineers outfitted the Acura TLX GT Race Car with an HPD chassis and aerodynamic performance parts to meet Pirelli World Challenge standards, with a custom HPD direct-injection twin-turbocharged V6 engine under the hood.

The RealTime Racing team will be responsible for campaigning the TLX GT. Based on their track record (leading the pack with 85 race victories as well as 14 Manufacturers’ Championships and 14 Drivers’ Championships), we at DCH Montclair Acura have high hopes for the upcoming season. Look for more information on the TLX in the future.
